About the project:
“We are Europe! Don’t ask what Europe can do for you but ask what you can do for Europe – by Doing Europe!” states the European manifesto initiated by sociologist Ulrich Beck and French-German politician Daniel Cohn-Bendit in 2012. “We are Europe!” redirects us to the founding stones and existential principles of the European Union, namely cohesion and integration. Recent developments in the world and in Europe raise new concerns for consideration: How to foster EU cohesion in times of growing political and economic nationalism across Europe and the world? How to mainstream integration in times of Brexit or the Yellow Vests movement? How to mitigate threats arising from geopolitical clashes, such as the recent developments with Russia resulting in the ongoing hybrid war in Ukraine? In face of these global and regional challenges, how to keep European citizens convinced by, engaged with, and dedicated to, the project of Europe and the European Union? Has not the EU of institutions drifted too far away from the EU of citizens?
